Designed to appear as if they were floating in the crowd space rather than flanking a festival stage, Star Events Group cantilevered the screens off the front of twin 20m VerTech platform wings, hiding the masts and roof grid supporting the seamless landscape video palettes.
Pete Holdich, head of structures at Star Events, comments: "It took a lot of planning to work out how it could all be achieved. There were 18m by 10m screens either side of both stages with a header linking them across the proscenium and a traditional backdrop screen behind the artist, all mapped together."
Production manager/director at LarMac Live, Ian Greenway, said: "Screens and pyro is what a DJ's set is about. A huge amount of thought and effort goes into developing that content and it's our job to have a canvas for it. Cream and Live Nation are passionate about letting artists bring their shows to Creamfields. We treated the two main stages identically, with fantastic stretch of XL Video screens, and it looked amazing."
Creamfields has become one of Star Events' biggest events. As well as the two main platforms, the company supplies eight tent-based stages, four V Towers and a number of ancillary structures across the Daresbury site.
