"This is the kind of work that our team love to get their teeth into," says Stephen Reid, Black Light's head of hires. "We love the challenge of creating something really impressive within a relatively narrow time window. It's really satisfying when our team swings into action and all our careful forward planning proves its worth in a job well done."
Thanks to Black Light's comprehensive inventory, it was able to exactly fulfill the client's staging brief and its team of installation experts were happy to work within the strict time parameters demanded by the festival's timetable.
The main stage was 60ft wide x 32ft deep, with a backstage turnaround area of 60ft x 20ft, and a truck dock 20ft x 36ft. It was built by a team of 12 during the day before the concert and had to be struck overnight. The whole stage was built at a height of 5ft. In addition, Black Light installed drum risers and key board risers, and hand railing ramping and steps up to the stage.
On top of all of this, the company built a small announcement stage, a FOH platform, platforms for projectors, three drum rolling risers, two keyboard rolling risers and one backline riser. To complete the picture, Black Light also constructed a second exterior stage on grass, built from Prolyte Stage Dex).
Based at the Royal Highland Centre, Ingliston Edinburgh the Frenzy festival is an international event. The main stage line up in 2010 was co-headlined by multi-million album selling Switchfoot and Hillsong United and supported by Phil Wickham, Planetshakers, LZ7, New World Son and many more leading acts from the Christian music scene.
