Within the relentless run-up to the festive season, the Blackout team was called upon to provide black wool serge drapes to a series of prestigious events, all of which were televised.
The hectic period began in Copenhagen, where Blackout supplied drapes to the two venues hosting the MTV Europe Music Awards in November. Blackout then moved on to London to supply black wool serge drapes to the UK Music Hall of Fame event at Alexandra Palace. "We 'black-boxed' the Great Hall and Blackout did an amazing job," says Paul-Anthony Viollet, the event's production manager.
"Working with Blackout is always a pleasure," Viollet continues. "Their professional, hands-on approach makes my life much easier! I've worked with them exclusively for ten years."
The following day, further quantities of Blackout drapes were put to use for the World Music Awards at Earl's Court 1, and this setup was then altered for the Cage Rage Championships at the same venue four days later. The company turned its attention again to Earls Court, supplying a series of concerts featuring the likes of Kasabian, Iron Maiden and George Michael.
"On top of all the other jobs and projects we were involved with the Christmas season of music events was an opportunity for us to do what we do best," says Steve Tuck, Blackout's managing director.
