Staged in the in-field area (inside the track), Blitz provided the video, audio and lighting equipment for the production. Fulfilling the video requirements, the presentations and entertainment were relayed to an audience of 3,000 via two 20m2 9mm LED screens, sourced from a digital video playback system, and a combination of fixed and radio HD cameras, all controlled by a Barco Encore switching system.
The acoustic challenges imposed by this cavernous space were met using four d&b Q1 line array systems, in conjunction with a number of smaller directional speakers. The extensive use of radio microphones even included the cyclists and on-track demonstrations. Spectacular lighting was provided by a number of 20K lumen moving fixtures, and effects units.
Paul Hutton commented, "Delivering a spectacular event, whilst working within the constraints imposed by LOCOG, was certainly not without challenges. Diplomacy was as much a requirement as technical knowledge, but we got there in the end and put on a fabulous show."
