UK - Blitz has partnered with Blue Box Entertainment to provide the interactive video system for Eurobeat - Almost Eurovision. The musical, written by Craig Christie and produced by the Glynn Nicholas Group, recently won the award for the Best New Musical at the 2007 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Mel Giedroyc, of 'Mel & Sue' fame, hosted the show where the audience vote for their favourite song by sending a text message and the winner is then announced live on stage.

Blitz worked alongside Blue Box Entertainment to create "an affordable, yet stunning end product" and provided a full range of services for the show. The AV equipment included a simple-to-operate video system to playback the VTs and project the PPT/PC images live onto the screen. Blitz's project manager, Mark Lewis offered technical advice to ensure that the interactive video system created maximum impact and remained seamless throughout the show.

Blitz also worked with the show's sound designer Mike Walker and provided additional Meyer 650P bass loudspeakers to supplement the installed system as well as 18 Sennheiser radio mics. These included four 5200 handhelds with Neumann heads which had been used at the 'real' Eurovision song contest in Helsinki this year.

Nigel Godfrey, of Blue Box Entertainment comments: "Eurobeat is highly effective in creating an adrenaline filled atmosphere which engages the imagination and participation of the audience from the opening scene. But with a real-time SMS vote determining the winner each night and with the results being compiled live on screen, it was imperative that we sourced good advice if we were to deliver a first class service for our client, within budget. Blitz once again surpassed itself in providing a seamless and reliable consultancy service which was essential to the success of the production."

Blitz's Mark Lewis explains: "Working on Eurobeat was a unique and exciting project and we are extremely proud to have helped Eurobeat become award winners. We pride ourselves in offering the best technical equipment and expertise to a range of performances. We already provide innovative technical services to productions such as Never Forget - the Take That musical, South Pacific and Dancing in the Streets and we hope that Eurobeat will soon join our West End showcase."
