Denmark – Copenhagen’s Bremen Teater has recently upgraded its audio system, with the Midas HD96-24 Console at the heart of the setup. With a seating capacity of 650, the venue is renowned for hosting a variety of events, including the popular TV2 shows Live Fra Bremen and ALOHA!. It has also been the chosen venue for award ceremonies like the Steppeulven and the GAFFA Awards.
Given the eclectic schedule and the necessity to accommodate guest productions with unique lighting and sound setups, Bremen Teater faced significant audio challenges.
To address this, the theatre collaborated with Danish ‘super partners’ Matrix Sales, led by Claus Pederson, and Bremen Teater’s chief engineer Mikael Flensborg, to design an audio system that could seamlessly integrate with the existing infrastructure.
Central to the upgrade is the Midas HD96-24-CC digital mixing console, chosen for “its versatility and superior preamps”. The full integration included the Midas HD96-24 Console, a DL251 and DL155 StageBox, the AS80 and DN9680.
The initial transition to the HD96 console brought some concerns about workflow changes, with Flensborg explaining: “We used to have a lot of faders on our old setup, so my main concern when switching over to HD96 was that I would miss these. But with the POP groups being so easy to set up and access, this is not the case. Admittedly there was a learning curve regarding workflow, being a new design and all, but it started making sense quickly.”
The integration of Midas products has significantly enhanced Bremen Teater's audio capabilities, ensuring it can continue to deliver exceptional experiences to its audiences. Speaking on the installation, Flensborg adds: “The processing possibilities seem to cater for all kind of mix philosophies, which makes the desk very versatile. I’ve seen and heard my engineers' running shows in very different manners and approaches, and although there are many roads, they all seem to find a path to the same destination: great sound.”
With improved reliability and flexibility, the venue is well-equipped to host a wide range of events, maintaining its status as a cultural landmark in Copenhagen.
