Greenland - Studiomaster supplied a "berg suitable" PA for the world's first ever gig on a floating iceberg, when UK metal band, The Defiled, performed in sub-zero temperatures atop of the floating berg for the Jägermeister Ice Cold Gig.

Jägermeister approached Studiomaster to supply a PA tough enough to perform in Arctic conditions following Carlsbro / Studiomaster's sponsorship of this year's Bloodstock festival, during which the company supplied emergency kit to The Jägermeister Stage.

"It was a brief we could confidently commit to, given the robust build quality of Studiomaster product," says assistant general manager Patrick Almond. "In fact it presented a perfect opportunity to prove the near-military grade construction of the new Horizon powered mixer. The very look of the all-British design says how tough it is - and then there's 1000 watts

USA - Emmy-nominated television LD Fred Bock is always filing away information about possible "future uses" when he encounters a new fixture. So when Bock of Ferri Lighting Design & Associates (FLDA) in New York saw the Nexus 4x4 LED panel from CHAUVET Professional at LDI, he made a mental note. "I thought they did a nice job and could be a good replacement for halogen matrix panels," he said. "They seemed like a nice solution looking for a challenge."

Recently, Bock found a challenge that was tailor-made for the Nexus. The red-hot Australian band 5 Seconds of Summer, whose debut album charted at number one in 11 countries, was appearing on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, where Bock is the LD. The band presented him with a concept sketch that called for a wall of quartz tungsten halogen panels, but Bock had a better idea.

UK - Lightning struck all summer at London's Roundhouse this year, as a special sound and lighting installation, Arboreal Lightning, formed the centrepiece of the venue's Summer Sessions. K-array loudspeakers helped transform the former locomotive shed into an interactive art space.

Commissioned by Imogen Heap as the centrepiece for her Reverb mini-festival in August, Arboreal Lightning was a large-scale interactive installation, designed by Alex Haw at his atmos studio, which transformed sound and gesture into a fully immersive environment. Built at the side of the Roundhouse stage, the tree's LED strip 'branches' spread throughout the venue's structure, reacting to the sounds produced by both performers and audiences.

A key part of the project was an ambisonics surround sound installation so, when performances were not taking place, people could enjoy a totally interactive e

UK - Billed as one of the finest events and conference venues in central London, The Mermaid Conference & Events Centre in Blackfriars has a reputation to retain.

When doubts were raised about the performance limitations of an existing sound system in the main auditorium, The Mermaid's technical manager, Andy Munro, approached Bose to find out what could be done to upgrade to a state of the art system. Fortunately, Bose had only recently introduced a new range of loudspeakers which bore all the hallmarks of being perfect for the venue.

The venue is a 600 capacity raked seating theatre, and the brief was for a system that could be used for vocal reinforcement for presentations and PA announcements, as well as for recorded music and live music enhancement. The venue is used regularly by the BBC for its Friday night concerts, as well as by ChristChurch London, which holds two wee

"In my opinion, the G-Spot is the most advanced and innovative moving head in the world market today. The weather in Baku [capital

Flown loudspeaker arrays in the historic arena were not an option, according to Freddy Dagata, audio project manager for Light and Shade di Alessandro Finocchiaro, the Aci Catena-based production provider. "We really had a chance to appreciate the versatilit

USA - Located at the confluence of the Mississippi and Elk Rivers, the community of Elk River, Minnesota has been called the 'City of Energy', a reference to its long history of harnessing the power of its two mighty waterways. This tradition makes Elk River a fitting home for River of Life Church, a house of worship that radiates positive energy as evidenced by its many outreach programmes and dynamic worship services.

The environment inside the roughly 6,000sq.ft house of worship matches the vibrant character of its services, thanks in no small measure to a high impact lighting design created by Excel AV Group that uses the Rogue R2 Spot moving head and COLORdash Par-Quad 18 LED par-style fixture from Chauvet Professional to engage worshippers. This was the second phase of a long range project; an earlier phase also utilized Chauvet Professional variable white LED fixtures for

"Dan originally switched to the SD7 because of its sound, versatility, feel and compatibility with Waves plugins," says the band's touring systems engineer Tony Smith. "After that tour, Chris felt that the timing was right to join Dan in using an SD7 as well. With the band in the studio,

Spain - Bautista Martí Italia is a newly opened lounge located in Antic Regne, one of the most central and busiest avenue in Valencia, between the districts of Canovas and Ruzafa.

Taking into account the importance that the design and the atmosphere of the lounge has for this particular customer, the installer,Sistemas 2, relied on WORK Pro's Neo Series of loudspeakers for the audio systems. The installer chose the white version because it integrated perfectly with the rest of the interior design and decoration.

The Neo Series comprises five different passive loudspeakers, two two-way active loudspeakers and an active subwoofer and mixes sound quality with a compact design, which makes it much easier to blend them with the architectural requirements of different projects. Technically, these loudspeakers are suitable for low impedance installation as well as 100V line installa

USA - September saw a major Gala concert given at the Meyerson Symphony Centre in Dallas. This was notable for two reasons; firstly it featured violinist Itzhak Perlman and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra; and it was the first concert to be recorded with the new recording equipment featuring Merging Technologies' Horus and Hapi Networked Audio interfaces, two Merging silent PC chassis, and Pyramix 9 MassCore.

The hall was filled to capacity and the event was simulcast to a nearby park where thousands were able to enjoy the music and video. The TV truck was fed audio via MADI from one of the Hapi converters and the sound in the park was rated as "excellent". The orchestra, under its music director Jaap van Zweden is performing at very high levels these days and the DSO is rated as one of the top orchestras in the country.

USA - Richwoods Christian Church was founded in the late 1990s by pastor Jim Powell in Peoria, Illinois. Its congregation was initially small, a scant 65 people, but those congregants were motivated to grow the church. They succeeded, and today Richwoods Christian Church brings 1,400 people together every weekend, spread across four services at two locations.

The larger location built its current sanctuary in a former high-end furniture store, where, despite low ceiling height, local A/V integration firm Advanced Audio and Lighting gave the church a highly-intelligible and musical sound reinforcement system based on Danley Sound Labs SH-50 full-range loudspeakers and TH-115 subwoofers. Not wanting to compromise at the satellite location, Richwoods Christian Church asked for Danley again. There, a collapsible system of self-powered Danley SH-96 loudspeakers and TH-118 subwoofers
