The M16 remote mic amp from Cadac.
UK - Cadac is celebrating 20 years of dedicated design for live sound applications this summer, with its extended product portfolio including the all-new M16 Remote Mic Amp, and the production D16 Digital Input Mix Matrix, alongside the S-Type Compact Live Production Console.

The M16 remote mic amp is a direct response to market demand for a high quality remote microphone amplifier for seamless interoperation with all marques of analogue and digital console. Designed to address live, broadcast and recording market requirements, the M16 integrates directly with Cadac's new D16 Digital Input Matrix, and up to 16 M16 units can be controlled within a single system. A remote control option is available, via the Cadac RM16 Remote Control Unit, or via Cadac's SAM software. The M16 demonstrates high headroom throughout the whole system, as well as an extended response frequency, say Cadac. Each amplifier provides three active and balanced output splits, which negates the need and expense of additional equipment and real estate, also each amplifier is provided with an in-built switchable High Pass filter. All input stages are hand-tuned by Cadac's skilled engineers, providing optimal Common Mode Rejection, while output drivers are tuned to provide optimum balanced performance and the ability to drive over long cable runs in excess of 100m.

The D16 Digital Input Mix Matrix is a powerful and reliable digital engine, say Cadac, in a compact 19" rack unit. It provides a fully featured 16x16 audio matrix, designed for operation either as a stand-alone audio processor (for smaller scale performances, fixed installations and high quality broadcast/recording applications), or as an expansion mixer for existing audio consoles. The D16 is equipped with 16 line level analogue inputs and outputs, with each channel providing 4-band parametric EQ, high and low pass filters, compression and gating dynamics control, plus adjustable level routing to 16 output mixes (Pre EQ, Post EQ or Post Fader).

The system can be controlled locally via menu keys and an LCD interface located on the D16 front panel, or via Cadac's enhanced SAM software. With the D16, SAM provides an extra tier of control - enabling users to create a virtual set of modules to reflect a traditional console layout, with the software "views" in turn providing live updates for real-time control of the D16 and operation of SAM's more conventional cue-based automation facilities. Operating the D16 via SAM software also provides the added benefit of allowing the operator to utilise the powerful on-board MIDI automation features. This MIDI control system is integrated as standard within SAM and provides functionality that includes comprehensive control of MIDI parameters, extensive MIDI sequencing control, the firing of custom MIDI System Exclusive commands and MIDI mapping. It will also be possible to control D16 parameters via an external MIDI controller, when used in conjunction with the SAM automation system. The D16 also directly interfaces with the M16, providing an ideal solution for stand-alone applications and where small footprint, high quality fully automated sub-mixers are required.

The S-Type is available as 17, 25 or 33-way frames, and can be expanded via optional bus connectors, enabling users to link a number of frames to configure a considerably larger mixer. The S-Type incorporates a fully balanced direct output with level control, eight switchable post- and pre-fade auxiliary sends - two of which are stereo - plus a custom-designed stereo input channel with line inputs, and comprehensive metering. The S-Type is an economically priced console that offers a high quality specification contained within a compact footprint. As with all standard Cadac console designs, users can mix and match the S-Type's modules, moving them in the frame to suit a given requirement.
