The 29th annual Stellar Awards
USA - All eyes in the dynamic world of gospel music were focused on the Metro Nashville Municipal Auditorium recently for the 29th annual Stellar Awards. The oldest award in this vibrant musical genre, the Stellar ceremony was viewed by millions of gospel music devotees on the national Up television network.

Lighting the two-hour Stellar Award broadcast presented a special challenge for LD Mark Carver (Mark Carver Designs, Nashville) and programmer Susan Rose. "Our overall vision for the design was to define the space on stage, while meeting the technical demands for broadcast quality in a live awards show," said Carver. "The Chauvet Legends were instrumental in helping us achieve this goal."

Carver and Rose's lighting rig included 24 Legend 230SR Beam fixtures from Chauvet Professional. They used 16 of the moving heads on eight truss towers positioned across the stage. The other eight fixtures served as upstage floor units.

"The critical function we had in mind for the Chauvet Legend 230SR Beams was to provide a nice hard edge so we could get a sharp graphic effect in haze for the camera shots," said Carver. "The end result was excellent. The Legends defined the space beautifully for the audience and the TV cameras."

"Gospel Music is a very dramatic and exciting genre, and the overall lighting we used had to relay the emotion in the music," said Rose. "The Chauvet Legends framed the event and helped us convey a lot of the emotion on stage."
