In response to the win, Chauvet CEO Albert Chauvet said: "We are very pleased and honoured. This award is testimony to Chauvet's credo of providing value, innovation and performance in every product we put our name on."
The Colortube 2.0 is outfitted with 144 high intensity LEDs over its one-metre length and is made of white UV-coated polycarbonate. It performs 22 patterns, chase and colour flows via the Colorcontroller 2.0, which is itself DMX-512 compatible. RGB mixing diffuses seven brilliant colours: cyan, purple, yellow, red, green, blue and white.
Design applications are numerous, from dynamic displays to seamless colour blends. The tubes are easy to mount, linkable end-to-end, eco-friendly and sustain wide temperature ranges and humidity levels.
Winners of the "disco globes" are selected from a nominee list by a panel of ten industry experts. Chauvet had more nominations than any other manufacturer, contending also for Best Lighting Product with the Legend 5000 and Best Effect Product with the Scorpion LGX Fat Beam laser.
This award follows another major accolade earlier this year, the 2006 DJZone Crystal Disc Award for the Scorpion LGX laser.
