Having created a strategic event framework for the delivery of complex road closures, crowd management and health and safety programmes, innovision also project managed the parade itself.
With agreement from London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham, Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea and the Metropolitan Police, innovision managed all elements of the parade, which saw two open-top buses transport the team from Stamford Bridge, along Fulham Road, down Hortensia Road, along King's Road and New King's Road. At Eel Brook Common the buses stopped, as interviews with key members of the team were broadcast live to the crowd via a big screen and PA.
The required road closures and traffic restrictions in this highly urbanised environment meant that meticulous planning and stakeholder engagement were central to the successful delivery of the parade. Furthermore, in-depth liaison with the emergency services and management of stewards were required to ensure an enjoyable crowd experience.
In addition to all pre-event planning and liaison innovision was responsible for overseeing event control, health and safety, first aid, event infrastructure, crowd management and stewarding and liaison with the parade broadcasters, Chelsea TV and Sky Sports News.
Lisbeth Moon, event director at innovision said, "The victory parade has been the result of meticulous planning, public consultation and stakeholder engagement. Chelsea Football Club has been a pleasure to work with. It is clear they have the very best interests of their fans and their community at heart, and the professionalism of the club is mirrored both on and off the field."
Alan Shaw, group company secretary for Chelsea Football Club said, "innovision were crucial in delivering a superbly run parade for our fans and the club to celebrate the double on Sunday afternoon. Their level of professionalism, big event experience and attention to detail was important to making this a success."
