CNPC Building in Beijing is a massive office block, covering an area of three hectares. Its conference and sound reinforcement systems are an important component of this high-tech intelligent building, which has more than 40 meeting rooms of varying sizes.
Vieta's loudspeakers and amplifiers are used throughout the CNPC Building, in a system comprising RCF digital devices and BSS signal processing. According to a spokesman for Tico (Vieta's distribution agent in China), "we found through analysis that the conference room audio application RCF + BSS + Vieta offers very high practicability, equipment compatibility and good scalability. Whenever you want to increase the number of speakers or additional audio input and output, the solution responds to the requirements."
The CNPC Building houses 12 conference rooms, each capable of housing 30-plus people. These are all designed in a common style, without control rooms or equipment rooms. With little space for equipment, it was important that sound reinforcement equipment have a very small footprint. This was one of the primary reasons for choosing Vieta's compact Ti Line amplifiers, which can be installed in the power distribution box.
More than 100sq.m in area, the conference rooms require high definition from their speech reinforcement systems. To achieve optimum unifomity of coverage, the CNPC chose Vieta's DO 5 loudspeakers, 12 units mounted on a grid above the room, each of which creates a 70 ° x 60 ° conical dispersion soundfield which can be precisely controlled. Additionally Vieta's DO44W models provide extra reinforcement for the large projection screens.
Through the many other meeting rooms, Vieta DO Line speakers have been used extensively. In the National People's Congress meeting room, which has capacity for 600, there are 20x DO 8s mounted on the grid above the room, with another 5x cabinets used as a podium system.
In total, the CNPC Building uses 44x Vieta's Ti Line digital amplifiers and 380x DO Series speakers, which is the largest number in any single application in China. Tico reports that all Vieta devices are working normally, in line with the original design requirements, providing uniform sound fields and excellent sound quality. High marks have been given by customers.
