Chris Young hits the road with Bandit Lites

Young is rounding out the year with a new album and a tour run that covers the country as part of Jason Aldean’s They Don’t Know Tour.
Using Bandit supplied Elation CuePix Blinder WW2 fixtures, Robe Pointes, Ayrton MagicPanels, and Martin Atomic 3000 Strobes, lighting director Mike Stanley created a portable version of Chris Lisle’s 2016 tour design which did not have any floor lights conducive for an opening act position since most of the rig was in the upstage torms.
“Uprights were installed on the pyramid video carts, moving down about half of the Magic Panels and Pointes,” said Stanley of the reconfiguration. With 12 mi video on the carts, Stanley loaded strobes and CuePix blinders behind it to blast through while switching to the Roe Linx ten mil hung off a pip and stripped at set change for the flown wall.
“Mounting the MagicPanels vertically definitely opened up the potential of the 360-degree pan that really wasn’t utilized in last year’s show,” Stanley said. “And as always, I can’t preach enough about the Pointes: they’re still my favorite fixture out there.”
“The ingenuity of this production is one that demonstrates both creativity and precision,” said Bandit Lites’ business development officer, Brent Barrett. “Having known both Chris and Mike for years, every opportunity I have to work with them is always a pleasure. “
Even with the challenges that come with touring extensively, Stanley finished by sharing how reassured he feels working with Bandit Lites saying, “We try to fly under the radar and be as low-maintenance as possible, but I know the Bandit support's there for whatever may come up.”
