Four of Moscow's key cinema theatres were used for the Festival's screenings including, the multiplex October and Pushkinsky cinema (Karo Film network), the Khudozhestvenny cinema and the Kinocenter.
The 11-screen October film complex, which opened in 2007, is Moscow's biggest multi-screen complex and one of Russia's first cinemas to opt for a digital solution. Its premiere hall, a 1,500 seat auditorium, features Christie's CP2000-S digital projector, which was deployed throughout the MIFF and integrated with Cine IPM 2K, allowing connection of alternative sources and outputting sound and picture via digital projector. Whilst in its Hall #2, Christie's CP2000-X is installed, which was also deployed during the MIFF being used with two Cine IPMs.
In the landmark "Pushkinsky" cinema hall, boasting a 2056 seat auditorium, the MIFF closed with the international premiere of American director Michael Mann's Public Enemies. Screened in DCI JPEG MXF-interop digital format three days ahead of its US release using two Christie CP2000-XB projectors, which were specified especially for deployment during the festival.
Alexander Rubin, the general director of Kinoproekt, commented: "It is imperative that major events such as the Moscow International Film Festival should benefit from the state-of-the-art world-class cinema solutions, which is why we opted for Christie. The number of digital screenings, including domestic film festivals, grows every year, and we are glad that together with Christie we can promote the digital film revolution in Russia."
