USA - City Theatrical demonstrated their innovative technology by presenting the first live broadcast of nine universes of wireless DMX using a single transmitter. This demonstration was made to a live audience of over 100 lighting professionals at LDI 2017 in Las Vegas.
The demo was part of a seminar featuring Multiverse wireless DMX/RDM technology entitled, How Advances In Wireless DMX Will Change The Way We Do Lighting. The seminar was led by City Theatrical founder and president, Gary Fails, and showcased the company’s vision of a future of wireless lighting control.
The Multiverse family of wireless DMX/RDM products gives lighting users a new range of options for performing their lighting tasks more easily than ever, while producing less disruptive radio energy than ever. City Theatrical’s vision of the new lighting world is one in which every DMX device contains a tiny, inexpensive, Multiverse Module transceiver chip, and where legacy lighting products have a Multiverse Node (a simple plug and play transceiver that is used as a receiver in a larger multiple universe system) near them, allowing entire productions of hundreds of fixtures and dozens of universes to be operated wirelessly, says the company.
As seen in the demonstration, these products are powerful building blocks in the Multiverse system. In combination with Multiverse Transmitter, as well as Multiverse Gateway for large scale productions, this system will help lighting professionals scale up to larger multi-universe broadcasts while producing less disruptive radio energy in the crowded 2.4GHz band than one present day transmitter does.
The Multiverse Transmitter used in the demonstration broadcast five universes in the 2.4GHz band and four universes in the 900MHz band. Multiverse Transmitters, including the model shown at LDI 2017, utilise Ethernet input to take in Streaming ACN (sACN) or Art-Net, Wi-Fi to communicate with tablet lighting controllers, and a Bluetooth radio for communication with City Theatrical’s multi award-winning DMXcat mobile app.
