Nyholm specified eight Alpha Spot HPE 700 fixtures supplied by Siyan Ltd, to complement performances from artists including: Happy Mondays, We Are Scientists and Funeral For A Friend.
"We needed fixtures that would be able to hold their own against the sunlight during the day as well as providing plenty of colour and effects in darkness," says Nyholm "They also needed to be versatile to cover everything from punk and rock to orchestra, which is why the Clay Paky Alpha Spot HPE 700 fixtures provided the ideal solution."
The Alpha Spot HPE 700 has a 700W discharge lamp, which provides a level of brightness equal, if not greater, than that seen with higher wattages. It also houses an array of optical and graphic devices including 15 gobos and one rotating prism and a 15º to 35º electronic linear zoom. As Godiva is one of the biggest free family festivals in the country, the versatility of the Alpha Spot HPE 700 meant Nyholm could keep down handling, installation, storage and consumption costs.
The Clay Paky luminaires were rigged over two trusses and on four levels to create maximum spread, without overloading, thanks to their small size and 22kg weight.
"We rigged all eight Alpha Spot HPE 700s on Wednesday and did not change a thing until the rig came down on Sunday evening," continues Nyholm. "They are fantastically reliable, consistently delivering on power and brightness, whilst also being extremely lightweight."
Godiva Festival has been running for over 15 years in Coventry's Memorial Park, with the headline acts this year providing record crowds with three days of unforgettable performances.
