Staged to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Hong Kong-based fashion and wellbeing company QNet, which operates in Egypt, the live music show was lit by lighting designer Walid el Hariry of AmazonEgypt (Egypt1).
Performing at the event were Egyptian heartthrob Tamer Hosny - nicknamed the 'King of Generation' by his fans - and multi-platinum selling Lebanese singer Nancy Ajram, described as 'one of the most influential personalities in the Middle East'.
To match the superstar status of the performers, el Hariry wanted to deliver a strikingly impressive lighting design. For this he specified 12 of the Clay Paky Alpha Spot 1200 on account of its brightness and broad spectrum of built-in effects, such as a complete CMY color system and 14 gobos. "I use Clay Paky because it's my favourite brand," the designer says simply, and it's clear this is true through his further specification of 48Sharpys and 12 Sharpy Wash 575s for the QNet spectacular.
Audio Technology, the Clay Paky distributor in Egypt, supplied el Hariry's rental house, Amazon Egypt1, with the Clay Paky equipment. The Sharpy was a versatile choice for the show, as it is an extremely portable fixture at just 16kg, whilst not compromising on brightness, purity of beam and variety of effects. In compliment of this, el Hariry's specification of the lightweight yet powerful Sharpy Wash provided a compact yet extremely high-performance solution.
Walid el Hariry has a lengthy history working with entertainment technology. He spent 20 years as a DJ, before deciding that his true calling was lighting design and programming and that Clay Paky fixtures were the ideal tool for realising his designs. He has worked alongside such esteemed designers as Mark Cunniffe, who was responsible for Madonna's 2012 world tour, and has some exceptionally high-profile projects in the pipeline, such as superstar Justin Bieber's first ever concert in Egypt in April this year. And no doubt his favourite Clay Paky fixtures will also be making an appearance.
