Dream Sets were the set and technical supplier of the event, which had a live broadcast on SABC1, while rental companies Black Coffee supplied 12 newly purchased Clay Paky Mythos units and Insane Sound & Lighting made available another four.
"I like the Mythos," commented Francois van der Merwe. "I prefer them to the Sharpys and they are nice and bright. The beams and gobos make a difference and they are fast. I would use them again." Robert Hoey from Dream Sets shared his sentiment.
The Mythos units were placed standing on the stage deck and created brilliant beam work, punching upright through the air. They looked fantastic.
"This was a good opportunity for us to see the potential of the fixtures," said Brandon Bunyan from Black Coffee. "We are trying to step up in Durban by having the latest technology available, and were happy to put the Mythos on a major production by Francois van der Merwe.."
Vimal Rawjee from Insane Sound & Lighting incorporates his Mythos units on just about every event he works on. "They are absolutely working for me," he said. "The Mythos has enough power and is a very efficient light to create a wow moment." He says his clients have been over the moon, in fact, whenever the lights are out to play, he often hears coinciding rumours of UFOs spotted in the night sky.
