Iberian Lighting, celebrating its 50th anniversary, designs some of the world's largest lampshades and stylish bespoke feature lighting in the contract sector. They have established an excellent reputation for their creative solutions in large scale bespoke lighting projects with interior designers, specifiers, blue-chip corporates, retailers, hotels, restaurants and also high end residential.
The merger of the two companies whose main commercial premises adjoin each other in Hastings, East Sussex, establishes a significant lighting presence within the larger engineering design and manufacturing group - Penn-Elcom.
"We are really pleased to welcome Iberian Lighting into the family. CLD Distribution's and Iberian's products genuinely complement each other", says Roger Willems, Chairman of Penn-Elcom. "The merger also signifies ambitious and exciting plans to grow the group's Lighting division by offering our clients a complete end-to-end lighting solution. This will range from LED and other energy saving light sources, control gear to oversized lighting shades and custom-made luminaires".
Les Allitt MD of Iberian Lighting adds: "We had progressively transformed our light shades business from predominantly domestic retail to almost exclusively commercial lighting. With the advent of LED lighting technology, Iberian Lighting has progressively become more technically focussed, employing specialist electronic engineers to design bespoke feature lighting for many blue chip companies and high end residential projects. Having outgrown our existing factory space, a decision was made as to where our company's future growth could be achieved and accommodated. As we had a very close relationship with our neighbour CLD Distribution, it seemed an obvious and natural progression to merge the two companies".
CLD Distribution is also a trade distributor and manufacturer of components and complete products for the professional audio, AV and broadcast industries.
CLD Distribution and Iberian Lighting believe that their clients will benefit from the larger group's systems and infrastructure which operates throughout Europe, North America & Australasia. The merger means that Iberian Lighting together with CLD Distribution can look forward to the next 50 years of future success.
