The opening show and activities were simulcast onto the 250sq.m LED display, prompting road users on the adjacent multi-lane highway to simply park and watch the show, drive-in-movie style. During its first month of operation, the City of Dreams resort has already attracted over 1.2 million visitors, which averages 41,000 visitors per day.
"Casino developer Melco Crown Entertainment had a clear vision for the development of the City of Dreams resort: they wanted a state-of-the-art display solution that would enhance their resort-wide 'electrifying entertainment' theme," says Marc Van Eekeren, VP of worldwide sales for Element Labs.
The spectacular LED screen that now forms a eye-catching focal point in the resort was designed, built and commissioned in less than four months. The project also included a smaller circular LED screen of 24 m2, in another part of the resort. Van Eekeren adds: "We worked together closely with the MELCO team from the word 'go' and were involved in the entire tower design and construction effort.
"Our goal was clear: to provide a full turnkey visualization solution that integrated seamlessly with the structure and layout of the resort. Element Labs has been in discussion with MELCO for over a year, well before Cobra 16 was formally launched. It's extremely low power consumption and thin, modular design, which allows for efficient structural implementation, were definitively critical factors in it being chosen for this high-profile installation," concludes Van Eekeren.
