Bert DeMarco, director of Edinburgh Corn Exchange, commented: "I first saw Colorflow at Leisure Industry Week about three years ago and was then looking at it with a view to creating a feature of the concourse area that joined the old cattleman's restaurant with the corn exchange. I wanted to give the area some life. However, after further discussions with Atmospheric's sales team it was clear that the area was too bright for Colorflow to have the impact that we wanted."
However, DeMarco and his colleagues were so impressed by Colorflow that they saw another application for it two years later when they converted the cattleman's restaurant into a banqueting centre. The Baron Suite - a smaller banqueting area with a 400 seating capacity - had a large, white arched ceiling area that was, apart from some cornice, virtually featureless. DeMarco commented: "We really wanted to give the room maximum impact and the ceiling really needed something to liven it up. My director colleague Andreas Poniros remembered Colorflow and I agreed that it was an excellent solution."
The Edinburgh Corn Exchange installed Colorflow in the Baron Suite in December 2002. The product was easily installed and Atmospheric's Technical Manager Steve Jewess quickly sorted out any initial teething problems. Commenting on Atmospheric's assistance, DeMarco said: "I was really impressed by Atmospheric's back-up service. Steve quickly sorted out our initial difficulties by telephone and he even came out of a training conference on one occasion to talk to us."
Colorflow is an eye-catching light fitting that enables any colour of the spectrum to be produced and directed onto a matt white surface. Cost-effective to run and easy to install, Colorflow can be effortlessly adjusted to create a range of effects from bold blocks of shifting colours to spectacular rainbow patterns. One of the greatest advantages of this lighting solution is its versatility. Rather than going to the expense and inconvenience of constantly re-decorating, operators can achieve a fresh new look simply by adjusting Colorflow's settings. The device can also be used to create atmosphere and even to offset extremes of temperature.
