"The most acoustically challenging area was the multi-purpose gymnasium, which is frequently used for basketball," said Stanislav Petrov, managing director of ProAudio. "The sound needed to be high quality with excellent intelligibility, but with very controlled dispersion to avoid the many highly reflective surfaces.
"Community R-Series deployed in clusters was the obvious choice, and by combining three different coverage pattern systems in each cluster, we were able to achieve good coverage of each area across the gym. Each cluster consisted of a 90x40 degree R.25-94Z, a 60x60 degree R.5-66Z and a 90x90 degree R.5-99Z. Seven of these clusters were then distributed down the length of the room, combining perfectly to give complete coverage."
The gymnasium system was completed by Trantec S5.5 wireless microphones and a TOA M-9000M2 digital matrix mixer/DSP. The Community loudspeakers are powered by three Powersoft M28Q 4-channel amplifiers.
The theatre system combined an FBT front line-array with Community DS8 coaxial loudspeakers providing the surround sound. Additional equipment included Trantec wireless and Audio-Technica wired microphones, a Roland M-480 mixing console, Powersoft M50Q DSP+ETH amplifiers and an ASL intercom system. The lighting installed by ProAudio includes DTS-Lighting Jack projectors, Zero88 Chilli pro 2410i dimmers and an ORB XF console.
