Local Authorities are lobbying the secretary of state claiming that the proposed fees should be set locally, allowing them to effectively draw an income from the exercise. Those with an interest in the fture of live music are being encouraged by musicians groups to email, fax or write to the Secretary of State supporting the proposed fee structure; confirming the sensible, fair, approach of applying a fee centrally; endorsing the plan and suggesting how this will assist musicians; and agreeing that the temporary event license fee of £21.00 appears reasonable for smaller intermittent venues.
