More capacity has been needed for some time - particularly due to recent investments in the latest larger scale technology like HD cameras, projectors and PPUs as well as an ever increasing stock of day-to-day equipment like microphones, plasma screens and speakers - plus higher staff levels and a healthy level of business, says the company.
With 12000sq.ft of space now available at the Kenilworth site, in addition to increased storage capacity, the new building will allow CPL to dramatically increase its dedicated Prep and Returns areas, further streamlining the efficiency, workflow and fast turnaround for which the company are renowned. There will also be a larger 'clean' climate controlled servicing area for sensitive elements like projectors, and a new demo room is planned in the near future.
An extra loading bay will further accelerate the turnaround for trucks and enhance transport logistics during peak times.
CPL's growing stock of set and staging elements will have a larger, more accessible space in the new unit. This sector of the company is developing fast, with CPL able to supply complete and cost-effective AV and staging packages for events up to a certain size.
The acquisition means that CPL can remain in its ideal location with easy access to London, Birmingham and the rest of the country, and in close proximity to Birmingham International (the National Exhibition Centre) which is the source of constant activity.
Says CPL's MD Matthew Boyse, "We seized the opportunity to expand without the disruption of moving, which was another option as we had definitely outgrown the original building. We are gearing up for a busy summer so it's really an opportune time."
CPL reports "a great start to 2011", servicing numerous roadshows, corporate events, product launches and presentations, and confirming several bookings already for the summer and festival seasons.
