Australia - EAW recently provided Melbourne-based Crossway Baptist Church with EAW's flagship UMX.96 digital console for use as the church's Front-of-House mixing console. With regular cumulative Sunday attendance of upwards of 4,000 people and up to 1,100 at each service, Crossway is one of Australia's largest churches.

Crossway required a particularly powerful and versatile FOH mixing console, which is what the UMX.96 delivered. Graeme Stevenson and the rest of the team at Production Audio Services (Mitcham, Victoria) handled the sale and worked very closely with Crossway personnel in the choice and design of the system.

"The UMX.96 is very intuitive and easy to operate, which is important for us, as most of our operators are volunteers," stated Peter MacLean, Crossway Baptist Church media pastor. "Adding to that, it has comprehensive features and lots of outputs for all our needs. The physical layout is very ergonomically designed and user friendly, with the sloped rear section and 48 input faders always available. And of course it sounds fantastic, with very smooth and musical EQ and dynamics. The sound helps us not only create and craft great music, but also enhance it rather than simply controlling it."

Another part of Crossway's audio upgrade was the addition of EAW speakers and processors with EAW's Gunness FocusingTM technology. Included are two EAW UX8800 Digital Signal Processors and eight MK8196 2-way full range installation loudspeakers for under-fill and stage lip-fills.
