CrowdGlow upgrades phone lighting system
- Details
This development of the system uses new CrowdNet technology to control phones with 10 times the data payload and at speeds of up to 120 times faster than before. while maintaining a range of over 250 meters per transmitter.
The extra payload and speed has enabled an array of new capabilities., including eight-bit RGB screen colour, new intelligent effect modes and more advanced LED flash control. The extra speed allows up to 120 frames per second of control, making it easier than ever to synchronise the phone light show to the music and on-stage lighting production.
With the new CrowdGlow Broadcast MacOSX app, lighting designers can now patch the audience’s phones directly into their favourite lighting console via Art-Net. This allows a seamless integration with the rest of the production, the crowd’s phones behave exactly like any other lighting fixture.
Joe Finnigan, the founder of CrowdGlow says: “This is a really exciting time here at CrowdGlow. This new generation of the system is a real game changer. It has been a complete rebuild from the ground up. It’s incredible that with the new CrowdNet technology we’re now achieving 120 frames per second of lighting control, of essentially unlimited phones, all without any reliance on WiFi or 4G.! It’s something that was impossible until now.”
CrowdNet is a new broadcast only Bluetooth protocol that doesn’t require any connections to individual phones. All modern phones that support Bluetooth 4 are capable of receiving the broadcasted signal, with no reliance on any external WiFi or 4G cellular networks.
