Germany / Bahrain - CT Screenco maintained its long association on the F1 Grand Prix circuit this month, providing screens for the inaugural event in Bahrain, before launching their newly-commissioned mobile displays, with rotating masts, at the Nurburgring for the European Grand Prix. At the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir, they supplied two 50sq.m 25mm screens. One was positioned at the exit to the pit lane (facing the grandstand) and the other out on the track.

But it was the race in Germany on May 30 that marked the debut of the two new identical 44sq.m, 15mm LED mobile displays - one owned by Creative Technology in the UK and the other by sister company JVR, warehoused in Holland. Avesco business development director, Dave Crump, comments: "These are identical 13m trailers, the only difference being that one is left-handed and the other right-handed. If you put one either side of the stage they become totally symmetrical - and as far as I know they are the only identical pair in Europe."

CT Screenco believe these to be the largest rotating mast screens in the European market and the 15mm pixel pitch provides in excess of 50% higher resolution than their leading competitor. The screen elevates out of the roof on a central mast which can be rotated through 360° and offers a viewing height of 5m (to the underside of the screen). Both have onboard generators and full control rooms - and boast a set-up time of just 20 minutes.

Other early summer events already booked for the new pair of Mobiles include Arena of Sound in Stuttgart, Rock am Ring in Eifel/Nurburg - followed by UK shows in Trafalgar Square, Covent Garden Piazza, Sherwood Forest and Hyde Park. Crump says: "It was always our intention to have these new-generation mobiles commissioned in time for the summer season. Having designed, built and operated mobiles for 19 years, I hope we have incorporated as many features as possible into these units. The ease of deployment of the integral sponsor branding and full radio remote control of hydraulics, contribute to safe operation and ease of use."
