The Compact 115 is a versatile three-way, biamplified system, say D.A.S., designed to be used as a full-range stand-alone unit without the need for bass reinforcement. It incorporates a state-of-the-art 1000W 'Class D' switching amplifier which utilizes two 500W ICEpower amplifier modules. One 500W channel is used for the low frequency section and another 500W channel for the mid-high section.
The low frequency section employs the highly efficient D.A.S. 15 GN4, 15" low frequency speaker with 4" voice coil and neodymium magnet structure. Mid range frequencies are reproduced by the new 8 BN mid-range device, which incorporates a neodymium magnet structure and develops high sensitivity. An M-10N, 1.5" exit compression driver with 3" titanium diaphragm and neodymium magnet handles high frequency reproduction. The mid and high frequency drivers are coupled to a integral mid-high horn unit providing enhanced pattern control and maximum definition.
Also new from D.A.S. Audio, the Compact 218 Sub System is a mono-amplified low frequency unit, utilizing two special 700Wrms 18 GN cone transducers. The 18 GN loudspeakers use edge-wound flat wire (EFW) for the voice coil windings. The Compact 218 Sub has implemented the most advanced Class-D amplifier technology, say D.A.S. True high end performance is achieved by the patented ICEpower analogue technology based on COM modulation and MECC control techniques. A single 1000W module provides the power amplification for the Compact 218 Sub. With an efficiency of 93%, the ICEpower amplifier uses less electricity, reduces heat and does not require fans or bulky heatsinks for cooling.
