Sound of Authority crew with their new D.A.S. Audio sound system at the Country Club Hills Theatre
USA - At the Country Club Hills Theatre, an outdoor venue situated in Country Club Hills, a suburb of Chicago, this summer's schedule includes performances by Toni Braxton, Al Jarreau, Eric Benet, Bobby Brown, David Sanborn, and Smokey Robinson. This season sound reinforcement is via a new sound reinforcement (SR) system comprised of components from D.A.S. Audio's Aero Series 2 catalogue.

Chicago, IL-based Sound of Authority was contracted to provide the sound system at the venue. Ernest Greene, Sound of Authority's president and CEO, deployed a new SR setup consisting of D.A.S. Audio's Aero 50 line array enclosures and LX-218 subwoofers from the Aero Series 2 product group, augmented by Aero-12A line array modules for side-fill.

"This is our third season handling sound services for the Country Club Hills Theater," Greene reports. "While our client has always been happy with the sound reinforcement services we've provided, I'm always looking to improve upon what we've done previously and this led to the purchase of our new D.A.S. Audio Aero Series 2 system. The Aero 50 offers a higher output level than what we used previously and this made it that much easier to provide consistent coverage throughout the audience areas."

The new SR system at the Country Club Hills Theatre consists of 12 Aero 50 line array enclosures -flown six modules per side at a trim height of roughly 14ft. The two loudspeaker clusters are positioned approximately 40ft apart and are augmented by eight D.A.S. Audio LX-218 subwoofers; ground stacked four enclosures per side in a two-high by two-wide configuration. Both loudspeaker systems are driven by Crest Audio Pro II Series 8002 power amps.

For side-fills, the Sound of Authority crew placed four D.A.S. Audio Aero Series Aero-8A self-powered, two-way, line array enclosures. These cabinets are positioned close to ear level - two units per side.

Greene reports the new SR system, which will remain in-place through late August, is delivering everything and more than he originally envisioned. "We took delivery of the new equipment on 1 June and began installation on 3 June," Greene says. "In addition to a dramatic improvement in sound quality, I've been equally impressed with D.A.S. Audio's customer/technical support services. In preparation for our first event on 5 June with R&B vocalist Toni Braxton, D.A.S. Audio's Carlos Henao, the company's US accounts manager, paid us a visit to ensure the new equipment was operating as expected and helped us optimize the system to the venue. The company's customer service is first-rate."
