Bi-Drivers suspended from the overhead for the bleacher and parterre area.
Italy - Spanish loudspeaker manufacturer D.A.S. Audio systems has been fundamental in providing a clear message at the Vinovo Hippodrome in Italy. D.A.S. distributor Kennell was responsible for the design and installation of the sound reinforcement systems.

Starting with clear requisites for the performance of the system, Kennel designed the system to provide precise coverage for the different messages to be communicated which include the race start signal, speaker commentary and background music. Sound is provided for three specific areas, the bleacher and parterre areas surrounding the course; the bar, restaurant and VIP areas and finally, a projection theatre located within the facilities of the racecourse.

28 Bi-Drivers were flown from the roof structure of the bleachers in order to obtain precisely defined coverage areas. The Bi-Driver is a high-power, mid-high coaxial device consisting of a 10" low-mid cone transducer and a 2" compression driver built into an integral mid-high horn assembly. The high directivity index and Q of the Bi-Driver horns makes them well suited for applications where high on-axis SPL is required. Two groups of Bi-Drivers providing different coverage areas were used. One group of fourteen units cover the top rows of the bleacher area with 50º V x 70º H coverage angles corresponding to the low ceiling height and wide bleacher area to cover. The second group of 14 Bi-Drivers is aimed at the lower portion of the bleachers and the parterre where coverage is 70º V x 50º H due to the depth of the parterre.

Inside the facility, DS-8T and Factor 5T line transformer versions of these popular D.A.S. products have been installed on two levels. Passageways, service areas, bars and restaurants as well as the VIP lounge are equipped with clusters of six units each. This arrangement provides a uniform and clear transmission of the messages and music program.

In the projection theater, an independent system built from components provides sound reinforcement for the projection of sport events such as soccer matches and auto racing. The audio/visual system can also be used for press conferences and presentations.
