"The theatre had to be fully equipped and we put two screens side by side with 120in diagonal Viewflex twin mirror," says DataShow MD, Gerry Browne.
That was two years ago. And the impact of those diffusion screens was such that when DataShow were asked to create a second, highly-specified lecture theatre in Galway, Gerry Browne again turned to Paradigm AV, the dnp distributors.
This time they supplied a 120" New Wide Angle display - again with a pair of dnp's adjustable Viewflex mirror rigs - and additional auxiliary projector point to ensure the rig had full redundancy. The installation is supported by an LCD display and full high definition video conferencing.
Gerry Browne's company has a 12 year history of working with the medical equipment suppliers, and in addition to the Paris contract, and equipping all 40 meeting rooms at Galway (the company's first facility in Ireland), they have also carried out installations at Boston Scientific's base in Brussels.
According to the DataShow MD, the workforce in Galway had previously had to make do with a "really poor" Fresnel rear projection set up, with under-powered 2000 lumens projector, which was over 10 years old, and had served them well. "The image was dreadful," he said. Thus the old set-up was decommissioned to make way for a customer care centre.
Instead, the new high-gain dnp screen will enable the company to present detailed graphics and medical data - even with the room lights on full. The optical single element system features two active lenticular lens on the front side of the screen to distribute the image through a 180? horizontal viewing area - so that all 80 delegates in the theatre have the best seat in the house.
At the same time DataShow specified a pair of Panasonic single-chip DLP projectors so that presentation can flip seamlessly (and unnoticed) to the standby projector in the event of failure to the primary system.
Installation of the screen and rear projection rig was carried out by Paradigm AV - which is one of the reasons DataShow like to partner with them. "We supply the dimensions to Paradigm, they work out the geometrics and do the layout - and we ensure the builders work to these drawings, as precision accuracy is essential."
System inputs at the new lecture theatre include a high resolution touch screen from the podium, multiple high res laptop points, HD videoconferencing and also DVD (the HD cameras deployed to record the presentation if required).
