UK - Following their success in 2005, Hawthorn has organised a new series of events to take place at its base in Old Dalby in Leicestershire. The 'Hawthorn@Home 2006' events will give lighting, sound and AV users the opportunity to get 'hands-on' with the latest equipment and technology. The events also aim to give manufacturers, suppliers and users to discuss the products and to gain an insight not normally available outside large tradeshows, say Hawthorn.

The days will kick off with lunch and an informal get together, followed by the hands-on/demo of the equipment. The first three events are:

3 March: Moving Lights and Lighting Desks'
Companies participating include Avolites, Martin Professional, ETC, MA Lighting, Robe and Zero 88. Hawthorn will also have on show its range of Clay Paky Alpha Spots and Washes, as well as other moving lights in their rental and sales brochures. Moving lights technicians, from Hawthorn, as well as company representatives from the companies exhibiting, will be on hand to discuss any aspects of moving lights or control desks.

7 April: Trussing, Rigging and Staging
The day will feature products and representation from Prolyte, Doughty, Rope Assemblies and Hall Stage. A senior engineer from Prolyte will give a presentation on Prolyte trussing, stresses, tolerances and best practices in using the Prolyte range of trussing. A wide selection of Prolyte truss and staging will be available for inspection. Hawthorn's rigging and mechanical engineering staff will be on hand as well as representatives from the companies taking part to answer questions and give advice on rigging and staging.

May: Sound and Video
A demonstration of the latest sound, video equipment and Media Servers/Controllers. (Further details to be confimed.)

"The events were a great success in 2005 and we have been inundated with requests for events in 2006. We hope to increase the attendance in 2006," said Hawthorn's Alan Jackson, "giving everyone an opportunity to get to grips with all types of equipment; and being centrally based gave us some great events in 2005 which we hope to build on in 2006".
