The idea for the expedition began back in January when Sarah chirped up with an idea of mountainous proportions. "I want to climb a mountain, who's with me?" she said. Just half an hour later the team was assembled, a plan formed and the all-important team name chosen. The MountainEARS, were going to climb Snowdon in the middle of June in the beautiful Summer sunshine. It was foolproof....
Fast forward to 4am on 15 June as the piercing sounds of an alarm clock welcome the day of the big climb. After obsessively checking the Snowdon weather report every 10 minutes for the past week in the hope that it would improve, the ladies arrived at the foot of the mountain only to find that the drab predictions were accurate. It was cold, wet and windy with low cloud, poor visibility and no WIFI. Already slightly damp, The MountainEARS began their ascent, taking the Miners track route.
After a three-hour and 10 minute slog, the team made it to the top.
Having fully completed their challenge in 6 hours and 45 minutes, The MountainEARS were overwhelmed to discover they had raised £2,535.00 for The Cystic Fibrosis Trust charity.
