New software upgrades bring added features: Gain Tracking is a world first, allowing FOH/monitor console operators to change any input gain without affecting the sound balance on either console; the D5 Live's 38 x 8 matrix can now have any channels, inputs and any buss, routed to it, bringing increased versatility, allowing in particular the creation of monitor sub-mixes; the 'Aux Send To Faders' feature adds to the functionality of the aux sends assigned to the surface faders.
An optional feature of the FOH console is the DiGiTRACS 56-track hard disk Soundcheck/Show Recorder (see below). The Monitor console provides 32 output channels, each with six bands of fully parametric EQ, a fully featured compressor/limiter and delay of up to 240 milliseconds.
The Soundcheck/Show Recorder is a dedicated multitrack which allows a soundcheck or live performance to be recorded and recalled; it also serves as a compact show or tour recorder - a tool that's sure to appeal. Other news from DiGiCo includes a new graphic EQ section in the Effects Module of the D5 Live 56E and 96E, and the first US sale of the D5 Live digital mixing system to Chicago's dB Sound. The console has already seen action on the European tour of Ministry, with dB Sound's Lee Popa at the controls.
