With a growing global market for monitor and control rooms - particularly in their key Chinese market - dnp is continuing to explore new technologies to create higher visual acuity and reduce bezel sizes even further to ensure seamless tiled videowall displays with edge-to-edge pictures.
According to S°ren Weis Lindegaard, dnp business manager, OEM & special projects, the company has called on its heritage in pioneering advanced lens technologies -offering a number of alternatives fit for purpose. But it is the Cross Prism Screen (XPS), supplied by the Danish company, that OEM customers are favouring, while the more mature screen types, like Ultra Contrast Screen and Black Bead Screen, continue to remain popular.
The other key differentiator of the XPS is that it is produced in an acrylic/styrene copolymer, with low moisture expansion coefficients. "It has the advantage of low humidity absorption - thus if the humidity changes, the screen doesn't 'shrink'," says Lindegaard.
"Two years ago there was a downslope and a number of our competitors have disappeared - but now the tide has turned and OEM business represents a very significant share of our turnover
"Flat panel displays have started to take over a significant part of the applications sector that years ago would have called for a rear projection screen. However, the development in screen and projector technology is continuously opening up new application areas - backdrops in TV studios and large displays in brightly lit areas being just a few examples."
