UK - Large format projection specialists E//T//C UK are illuminating London’s famous Wellington Arch at the top of Constitution Hill in a high impact live projection which continues the Totally London campaign, launched earlier this year.

This is a partnership between the Mayor of London and business in the capital, organized by the London Tourist Board and Convention Bureau (LTB). Totally London Month is a high profile campaign to encourage Londoners to who live in or commute into London to get out and about and enjoy the best of what the city has to offer. E//T//C UK is working via public relations agency Good Relations, who are utilizing projection for the first time in a campaign.

This is the second such event undertaken by E//T//C UK for LTB. The first was two months ago in the Great Court of the British Museum, which proved so successful that LTB decided to re-ignite the live projection concept. E//T//C UK is supplying two 6kW PIGI projectors - one in a custom-built weatherized projection housing, and one in the back of a transit van - these are being used to project onto both fascias of the Arch, overseen by projectionist Karen Monid.

Artwork and slides containing the Totally London logo were produced in-house at E//T//C by Ross Ashton, who photographed the Arch and applied ‘architectural masking’ to ensure that the large format artwork fitted the shape of the structure. This method also eliminated all spillage around the edges of the beam, a key safety issue with thousands of motorists zooming around the busy roundabout during the three hours of projections. It was therefore essential that no-one was blinded by or distracted by stray projector light! Keystone correction was also done by Ashton.
