The results of this year's PLASA committee elections were posted just as L&SI was going to press. As a result, the Association has welcomed three new members to its executive committee. With effect from 1 January 2004, Adrian Brooks of LiteStructures, Becky Loughran of Vertigo Rigging and John Jones of PCM/Pfaff Silberblau will join PLASA's executive body.

The new places were made available by the departures of Mick Hannaford of LightProcessor, Sammy de Havilland of Dare/Deco Leisure and Neil Darracott of Total Fabrications, all of whom have completed their terms. PLASA Chairman David Hopkins OBE acknowledged the valuable contributions all three had made, and thanked them for their efforts.

The three new members are all highly experienced. Adrian Brooks is the managing director of LiteStructures: his company, one of the largest in its sector, began manufacturing the original Astralite trussing in 1983, and has continued to develop all forms of trussing and staging equipment ever since.

Becky Loughran's career started at Theatre Projects where she specialized in AV/Video. After three years she joined HAVE Facilities, and then spent five years as a freelance working on events and West End Shows. In 1994, together with Tim Roberts, she started Vertigo - a company which has been instrumental in setting the standards for today's rigging companies. John Jones is managing director of PCM/Pfaff Silberblau. He has been involved in the entertainment industry for 20 years, starting with the provision of simple winches into the theatrical industry and progressing into Lodestar distribution.

Other PLASA members who stood in the election were Craig Buckley of RW Salt Communications, Graham Eales of Zero 88 Lighting, Steve Jones of Symonds Group, Ed Pagett of VLPS Lighting Services and Andy Scott of SigNET (AC) Ltd.
