Part of a system design by Phil Scobee of Dale Morris Leasing, XLC enclosures upgraded with new DVX-series woofers serve as the main PA for the Sugarland tour, offering increased power handling and enhanced frequency response. The EV equipment list includes 32 XLC boxes, 20 XLC118 subs, and 24 super-compact XLD281 boxes for 270-degree side wraps. 12 additional XLC boxes serve as delays where necessary. P3000RL amps running IRIS-Net provide all the power; system control, distribution, and processing are further streamlined with EV's NetMax N8000 digital matrix controller.
The tour kicked off in Louisville, at the Kentucky Exposition Center's 19,000-seat Freedom Hall, where David "Hud" Haney of Dale Morris Leasing was present to hear the rig in action: "I was very pleased with how smooth and seamless the new XLC rig sounded," says Haney. "I've been at shows in that room probably 15-20 times during my 30 years of touring, and this was the best I've ever heard it sound. It's a tough space, with a low ceiling and a long throw - around 330ft from stage. I was blown away by the XLC's coverage and intelligibility."
