"I've been involved with the K-LOVE Fan Awards since its inception three years ago and the design process for the show is all about function as opposed to form," began Moore. "There are a lot of specifics that we have to accommodate such as the production schedule of the Grand Ole Opry that we must work around, the artistic desires of the 20 bands that will be performing, , and then finally the standard production elements that come into play with producing this type of awards show. To make sure all of this comes together, we have to have a lighting and video partner that can offer us outstanding gear but also tremendous technical support which is why we chose once again to work with Elite Multimedia."
Before the K-LOVE Fan Awards can take the stage, Moore and the production team must first work around a very tight load-in and tech rehearsal schedule built around the concerts taking place at the Grand Ole Opry. There is little margin for error and the gear supplied by Elite Multimedia must be ready to perform at a very high level.
Moore explained further, "The Grand Ole Opry production schedule operates year around so we load-in on Wednesday morning and continue our production work until Friday at noon when we have to load-out. Then Saturday night after the Opry has finished their weekend production, we load back in around 11 pm. Next we have an 8 am call on Sunday morning with a show rehearsal at 11 am followed by the awards show later that night. A lot of the production gear we choose is based on how quickly we can deploy it and how well we know it will work. Elite Multimedia has always provided us with equipment that arrives ready to perform and this year was no different."
Understanding the technical challenges, Elite Multimedia supplied the K-LOVE Fan Awards with a lighting and video package that included GrandMA lighting consoles, Ayrton Magic Blade-R fixtures, Philips Vari-Lite VL3500 Wash FX, VL3000 Spot and VL3015LT Spot luminaires, Clay Paky Sharpy, Sharpy Wash, Mythos and K10 B-Eye luminaires, Robe Robin CycFX fixtures, Showline SL NITRO 510 LED strobe luminaires, Elation 2Lite Cuepix and 4Lite Cuepix Blinders, MDG High Output Hazers, Tyler Centerline Truss with CM Lodestar Motors, along with PixelFLEX FLEXCurve 8mm LED tiles and PixelFLEX SU-401 LED Controllers.
"The onsite support we received from Elite Multimedia was absolutely top-notch," concluded Moore. "One of the most challenging parts of the production is the sheer amount of cable runs throughout the fly space which can really complicate everything. We do a lot of preplanning of how it all has to be deployed and the lighting technicians at Elite Multimedia were really dialed-in with what we were trying to accomplish. They were extremely reliable and knowledgeable, and they were an exemplary lighting crew that played a large role in making the end result something truly spectacular."
