UK - Mission Media were approached by Nokia, who asked them to suspend a 6-tonne, 20m by 8.5m video wall in the shape of an arrow 40m above the ground in the shadow of Tower Bridge. In addition to that, it would have to rotate, while footage of the screen would be streamed live to the Internet.

Nokia's unusual brief was for an event to launch the 'Good Things' campaign associated with their global launch of the new OVI Service.

Mission Media contacted Neil Keane of Event production Management & Design (EPMD) who quickly assembled his team of long-term associates. A design for the screen evolved, as did details of the practicalities which would include a ground support stillage to dock the structure when it was not being flown.

EPMD contacted Gavin Weatherall and Damian Weymouth at The Rigging Partnership and Danny Whitemore at Lee Lifting to discuss the practicalities of flying the structure: it was decided that a rectangle made from 617mm box truss to hang the screen would be built with custom corners designed to form the arrow head. The structure would be suspended from a twin hoist 100-tonne crane.

The 14 x 4 metre video wall and web streaming cameras were supplied by Pod Blumann Associates. Omar Mullick from Dynamic 3 produced the internally lit Nokia logo sign. All site plant and infrastructure was supplied by CW Plant.

Warren Andrews and Peter Barnett from MC2 designed the truss cladding and the 20m x 8.5m airtek graphics banners which fills in the truss structure. Dan Haygarth from Fantastic Illuminations used 280 individually addressed 2W LED globes (supplied by Panalux) which were pixel mapped on a Chamsys desk to frame the screen, with spectacular results.
