Simon James, director at Essential Supplies comments, "Uplighters are the backbone for lighting most marquee venues, they need to be low tech, no DMX data cables to go wrong, or flickering colour changes, just a simple plug and go uplighter. At Essential Supplies we have been looking into making an LED version of our traditional uplighter which has been a market leading product for over 15 years. Now with the right LEDs and driver, we have matched, and exceeded, the quality and warmth of light output offered with traditional tungsten with a new LED product that is fully dimmable and offers a dramatic reduction in power consumption.
"In designing the new LED uplighter, Essential Supplies collaborated with our partners to produce a very contemporary, stylish case that can be manufactured to complement any colour scheme. The light can also be transformed from an uplighter into an overhead spotlight with its additional hanging bracket. We're very excited by the potential offered by this new LED uplighter and we believe it will revolutionise lighting for many of our customers in the hire industry; no hot surfaces, no bulbs that need replacing, lower power usage and a smart looking addition to any venue."
The product is already receiving significant interest in the event industry with the first batch being supplied to Stuart McCrudden Associates (SMA). SMA create and manage the Honda World Touring Car Championship promotional road show and hospitality system for Honda Motor Europe. The hectic schedule of eight events in five months includes race venues in Europe, Morocco and Russia.
"SMA took the very first batch of the LED uplighters early this year. The ambient lighting gives an excellent atmosphere and the cool surface safety is good news especially for young children. Even in our giant awning it is effectively an outdoor environment so we need the Essential rugged build. The in-out wiring makes the installation quick and reliable on each site. The LED uplighters work for us," says Stuart McCrudden.
