Belgium - Martin Professional reports a busy season for its lighting equipment in the Belgian market, with Belgian rental house and production company D-Rent (supplied by Martin's long-time Belgian distributor, EVDV) employing the company's fixtures on a wide range of events, including son et lumieres, corporate events and concerts.

D-Rent recently employed its stable of MACs on a son et lumiere, Magisch Antwerpen, a sound and light spectacular held every spring in the port city of Antwerp. Some 18,000 people crowded the city hall square to see the show, which featured 28 MAC 2000 Profiles, 18 MAC 600s, 72 MAC 250s and other intelligent lights in a visual extravaganza that included effects and colour-washing across the city hall and square.

For a mid-winter fest held in a large Belgian open-air museum, event promoter Croissant Bleu produced a circus show called Station Europa. D-Rent used 24 MAC 250 Krypton, 20 MAC 600 NTs, 12 MAC 500s and six Atomic strobes on a show that was performed five times a day for 10 days with an average audience of 1,500 per show. The show was drawn and completely pre-programmed on the Martin ShowDesigner system, which helped to shorten set-up and rehearsal time. Control was from a Martin Maxxyz desk with pre-production completed at EVDV.

Some 82 MAC 600 NTs, 80 MAC 500s and 12 MAC 250s were used for a sold-out show by kids group M-Kids at the Sportpaleis in Antwerp, the biggest indoor venue in Belgium. The show was drawn and pre-programmed on the Martin ShowDesigner's Offline Visualizer thus saving programming time in the venue. The rendered ShowDesigner pictures were then used for press presentations and billboard design.

D-Rent also used 26 MAC 600s and 24 MAC 250s for a corporate event for telecoms company Euphony Benelux - an event that combined live music, dancers, video animation and speeches. And last but not least, snowboarding on the steps of a museum: some 24 MAC 250 Kryptons, 12 MAC 600s and four MAC 500s were used for a 'Red Bull: Rail Battle of the Lowlands' event - a snowboarding contest staged on the stairs of the Brussels Museum of Fine Arts.
