The latest new product is a portable lectern system, which comes compete with integral Heavy Industrial grade case, This has been developed to address all the frustrating and time consuming things about setting up lecterns.

The lectern is manufactured from birch plywood which is CNC machined at 5 Star's factory in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire on one of three Thermwood CNC machining centres.

It's aimed at AV rental companies operating in the conference and presentation sectors, and anyone needing a quick and tasteful looking lectern set up, with the major advantage of being fully protected in transit and also ultra-portable with a flightcase.

Featuring the patented x7 Color System, the five different Selador LED models produce a light and colour quality that conventional LED systems cannot duplicate. This system produces bright broad-spectrum whites and intense colours equally well, rendering pigments and skin tones in a far more natural way, says the company.

Totally new is a range of white LED engines - initially to be shown at the exhibition in i-Pix's BB1 fixture. Also new is the BB2, a self contained two-cell fixture and the BB 2x2 which is made up of a pair of BB2s.

The versatility of the BB series, plus i-Pix' innovative LED control technology and attention to quality engineering and detail will be demonstrated in full.

i-Pix launches a range of white light LED engines, absolutely hot off the production line from Germany. Initially shown in the BB1 fixture, these are available now across the full BB range in Warm White, Cold White and a super-smooth Warm-to-Cold white mix.

KORA Awards is the manifestation of an all-encompassing vision for Africa of the executive producer for the event, Ernest Adjovi and his dedication to overcoming the logistical demands of bringing a show of this scale to Burkina Faso.

It was the first time that the colourful K event had been staged outside South Africa. The show was directed for TV by Clive Morris and distributed via CFI (Canal France International) across Africa, France and parts of the US via 100 TV channels, as well as being enjoyed live by 3000 guests. The biennial event, which celebrates the band and salutes fans worldwide, was held at the Mandalay Bay Event Centre in Las Vegas on 11 March. The five-hour communal concert began in 2000 and has become a 311 tradition; this year fans could also tune into a live webcast.

Trenell was asked to create a lighting and video design by the show's technical producers Production North. He worked closely with the show directors Annabel Hayden and Stacey Haynes.

When it came to visual control, "It was a completely logical choice as I know the system so well," he says. It's a large investment for an LD to make in consoles, but Trenell thinks it's one of his best moves ever, as he can always use his system of choice. Artistic Licence managing director Simon Hobday reports, "It was our first time at PLASA Focus and I was very impressed with the organisation, venue staff and general atmosphere of the show. We met a lot of new customers and discovered the potential for many more. We also gained very valuable feedback, not only about our products but what is missing in the industry.
