Robert Juliat's Victor followspot.
France - The first 1800W followspots ever to go on the market will shortly be available from French followspot specialists, Robert Juliat. Two models will be available, a long throw version named Victor (7-14.5°) and its short-throw counterpart, Flo (13-24°).

The Victor and Flo have been modelled around the new 1800W MSR DE, hot restrike, lamp, which has been developed in co-operation with Philips to offer a high output of light in a very compact unit.

Despite physical dimensions which match the 'LDI 2006 product of the Year' 1200W HMI Super Korrigan, there is an increase in light output of up to 50% on the 1200W models, a fact which Robert Juliat director, Francois Juliat, is happy to promote.

"We are now offering in the same compact format and design as the 1200W but with the equivalent light output of a 2500W," he explains. "The compact size (less than 90cm for the short throw) is ideal for small spaces with restricted movement and allows easy storage and handling. However, both models offer a large choice of options and, with many removable parts to ease periodic maintenance, they present a great tool for rental companies.

"We also offer the Victor and Flo with the choice of a mechanical or DMX-controlled dowser, for easily synchronised dimming, and the choice of magnetic or electronic interchangeable power supply.

"The hot restrike lamp means instant restart in the event of power failure which is not possible with cold-strike spots which keep the operator waiting several long minutes before re-ignition."

The Victor and Flo also incorporate the popular fingertip shutter control, a universal 'A' size gobo holder (for both metal and glass gobos), an inner slot for dichroic or frost filter and a fully closing iris with protective backplate to ensure minimal damage and longer life to the iris.

The first models were introduced at PLASA07 and will be shown for the first time in North America at LDI, Orlando. Units will be in full-scale production by January 2008.
