"DiGiCo is a very agile company," adds Concert Sound's Tim Boyle. "David Webster really pulled out all the stops to get us the console in time for this tour. They're constantly reacting to what the market wants and needs and I think they've come up trumps again with the D1."
During the PLASA Show, the Prize Stage, alongside the After Show Bar, also helped to make three lucky winners £1000 richer. The brainchild of DiGiCo marketing director, David Webster, the stage was sponsored by nine of the entertainment technology industry's best-known names: Avolites, DiGiCo, Lab.gruppen, Lighthouse, Meyer Sound, Mobil-Tech, Sennheiser, Stardraw and XTA Electronics. Along with prizes from the individual sponsors, £1000 was given away on each of the three evenings the Prize Stage ran. DiGiCo's Bob Doyle handed over the money to Paiste Malnpaa from Finland on day one, Louise Doyle from HSL on day two and Alan Webster, also from HSL, on day three.
"It was a little bit like the Twilight Zone," says Doyle. "On the first day, Paiste from Finland won our MP3 watch and the £1000. Then on the second day it was Louise Doyle and on the third, Alan Webster. It was a total coincidence! The whole event was a huge success and we couldn't be more pleased."
