"We had a day to rehearse, then it was all hands to the pump to make sure everything went smoothly on the night," Summerhayes says. "It was a great show with plenty of full-on rock bands, which is what we enjoy. The only tricky part of the evening was recording Jarvis Cocker and The Gossip singer Beth Ditto's electric acoustic set, which involved a few more mics and inputs than we had expected, but it all went well and the broadcast audio was delivered to E4 via CTV, which was handling the pictures."
Rock group Muse took the award for Best British Band, while The Arctic Monkeys scooped two awards on the night, including best music DVD and best album for Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not.
Other bands performing on the night included The Killers, Kasabian, Kaiser Chiefs and The View, who also performed on the acoustic stage. Lily Allen missed out on scooping best solo artist but did manage one win - the award for being worst dressed. Primal Scream, who collected the Godlike Genius Award, closed the event with a performance of The Clash classic, White Man.The Awards ceremony was presented by XFm DJ Lauren Laverne and was directed by Tim Van Summeren. Fleetwood was commissioned by producer Jim Parsons and line producer Emma Sheldon, of Remedy Productions.
