Although the Mk 2 units have a smart new appearance, plus some extra facilities, they still feature exactly the same internal design and construction which have made the original units consistently popular with artists and audio engineers throughout the world. Designed in conjunction with a world-famous recording studio, the original QUE - 8 and QUE - 10 gave musicians and vocalists the opportunity to set and adjust their own monitor mix without affecting any master recording or PA mix. The units featured 8 or 10 channels respectively, each with its own volume and pan control, plus a master treble, bass and volume control section. They have found continuing success in recording and broadcast studios around the world, as well as theatre and touring productions such as Starlight Express, Les Miserables, Miss Saigon, Grease, Cats and Sir Cliff Richard's Heathcliffe, which have all used Formula Sound QUE units.
The new Mk 2 versions now include an extra line output (which can be stereo or mono) and which will drive a powered speaker or provide a mix to another QUE unit. An optional microphone input can also be added, featuring XLR connectors, a gain preset and a simple EQ control. Both units are also now available in an industry-standard black finish or an optional gunmetal grey.
Designed to interface with modern studio mixing consoles, the QUE units can be chained together to provide extended foldback mixing options, and powered distribution units are available to run multiple QUE units. An integral bush allows them to be mounted onto standard microphone stands, low, medium or high impedance headphones can be used, and optional headphone storage brackets are available.
