Developing the concept behind Formula Sound's range of foldback mixers has led to the launch of the new QUE-18.
UK - The need to provide customers with an expanded version of its existing QUE-8 and QUE-10 foldback mixers has led to the launch of a brand new Formula Sound product which was shown for the first time at the recent PLASA Show.

Offering users high levels of flexibility, the new QUE-18 foldback mixer has been created in close collaboration with sound designers working on musical theatre productions to include the facilities and options that they have specifically requested. The result is a unit that combines the proven reliability of its predecessors with a high degree of versatility.

The new QUE-18 foldback mixer is a development of the original Formula Sound technology which has proven consistently popular with artists and audio engineers in over 20 years of professional use. The QUE-18's extended signal handling capacity (up to 18 audio inputs configured as 14 mono and 2 stereo) and its versatile configuration options make it ideal for use in musical and theatre productions where different users require varying foldback options. However, like its QUE-8 and QUE-10 predecessors, the new unit will interface perfectly with studio mixing consoles and so will find many uses in recording and broadcast applications.

The QUE-18 provides many useful features, including a line output and auxiliary bus output, each in mono or stereo and with master level controls, a master section with two independently controlled stereo phones outputs, a fully-adjustable talk-back function compatible with either an internal or external microphone, and a self-power feature configurable for either 110 or 220V ac operation.

Each individual channel boasts twin-band equalization, auxiliary send controls (which can be either pre- or post-fader) balance, pan and volume controls, a local input option plus an illuminated mute switch and an option to remove the channel from the mixed line output. Multiple units can be connected via multicore cables to create an extended foldback mixing system, and a complementary audio distribution panel is also available which allows XLR connectors to interface with the QUE-18. An in-built dimmer provides control over an optional 12V light, and the unit can be mounted via its mounting yoke onto a standard microphone stand.
