Hosted by W Lee, owner of Hiroshi Technologies/Funktion-One China, the showcase saw demonstrations of a number of Funktion-One products, including: Resolution 2, Resolution 3, F218 Mk2, F101, F81, MB212 and, of course, the F1201. The grand surroundings provided the perfect backdrop and space for the guests to explore and interact with the products, and engage with company representatives - including product specialist, Chan Yu Hing.
Once the attendees had settled in, Bill Woods took to the stage and presented the story of the F1201. Starting with Funktion-One's history, people and design philosophy, followed by an overview of the illustrious product catalogue, Bill arrived at the smaller product family, which has a new big brother - the F1201
Funktion-One's compact products don't always get the recognition they deserve - perhaps because the larger products are so iconic. But the attributes that define those larger format speakers are carried in the design philosophy of the compact range. Vocal intelligibility, clarity, and high efficiency are always at the forefront of Funktion-One's thinking, says the company.
The F1201 is the largest and most powerful of Funktion-One's F-Series range of compact loudspeakers. The British manufacturer has meticulously applied its purist design approach to the ubiquitous 12-inch and horn loaded 1-inch configuration. This means no additional processing or passive network EQ is required, thus preserving coherence of phase and transient response. The result is a naturally balanced compact product with high output, even response and great low frequency performance - particularly for its size. The rotatable 90° x 45° HF horn facilitates installations in venues with low ceilings.
Suitably impressed by the F1201's capabilities, the audience, which totalled more than 150 people, was given a demonstration of the speaker's flexibility in various applications. First a nightclub track was played, then a little theatre, followed by a classical piece. And then a question: What else is the F1201 good for?
Cue an impromptu rendition of Sinatra's My Way by none other than Mr Bill 'Old Blue Eyes' Woods, which was met with rapturous applause and many clients pledging business to Funktion-One.
Reflecting on a successful event, Bill said: "It was such a pleasure meeting so many dealers in China. Over the years, I have made many product presentations and I was determined to make an impression. Having done business in China for many years I understand the importance of engaging the audience.
"The reaction we got to the presentation - with the simultaneous Chinese translation provided by Hing and Freddie - was amazing. W Lee and his team were great, the venue was stunning and I am sure we will be writing great business on the F1201 and its little brothers over the coming months."
