On 10 July, the FX Group will be popping champagne corks in celebration of its 10th anniversary as Europe¹s premier pro audio equipment company. Over the last decade, FX has grown from a pro audio equipment rental company (FX Rentals) into a Group that now includes equipment sales (FX Music Control), equipment servicing and repairs (FX Cimple Solutions); copying across all digital and analogue formats (FX Copyroom), equipment rentals in southern Europe (FX Spain) and, most recently, audio and video installations (FX Technical Services).

"Diversification has been an important factor in our success," says FX Group chairman Roger Evan. "The pro audio industry has undergone significant changes in recent years and, as a company, we have always endeavoured to stay relevant to our customer base so that we continue to provide them with the highest possible levels of service. The fact that we are still here and still successful indicates just how important it is to pay attention to detail and make a firm commitment to always putting the customer first."

Since its formation in 1992, the FX Group has continued to place customer service at the top of its list of priorities. In the last 10 years the company has offered a truly 24-hour service from its headquarters in West London: it¹s offices have remained open every hour of every day to ensure that customers are never inconvenienced. During the last 10 years FX has completed over 110,000 separate rentals and its fleet of vans have covered more than 2.8 million miles delivering equipment the equivalent to five return trips to the moon!

Statistical analysis of the FX Group database reveals many other interesting facts. For example the most popular rental item over the last decade has been Alesis ADAT, with over 8,200 of the machines rented out. FX has also rented out more than 9000 pairs of Beyer DT100 headphones and consistently does well with Lexicon reverbs, AMS delays and reverbs and classic microphones from Neumann and AKG.

"Our rental equipment stocks are always being updated to take into account the latest trends," says Group marketing director Tony Andrews. "Most equipment does have a reasonable shelf life, but others have fallen by the wayside over the last 10 years. We certainly don¹t get much demand these days for Atari computers, Simmons electronic drum kits, Yamaha NS10 monitors, Sony PCMF1 and PCM1630 digital recorders or Mitsubishi X850/X880 digital recorders."

With FX Spain offering equipment rental services to Southern Europe and a new joint-venture with db Mediahire all set to extend the FX brand in Greece, the FX Group is well placed to expand its operations even further over the next 10 years and beyond.
